CONFEERE X VALLECHI
Vallechi's latest single, 'Liberdade,' is a powerful testament to the enduring pursuit of freedom. With infectious catchiness and an energetic pace, the track embodies the idea that freedom is a continuous journey, one that requires constant dedication and defense.
As a reminder of the importante of April 25th, Portugal’s Freedom Day, and as a way to raise awareness of its meaning, Vallechi teamed up with the talented artist Confeere, in a remarkable collaboration, being responsible for the soundtrack of a visually stunning video in this OneHouseOnly production. The 6-meter-tall statue featured in the heart of Lisbon's main square portrays a figure running with carnations, symbolizing the complexity of the human experience and serving as a poignant reminder that the fight for freedom and equality is an ongoing endeavor. It represents a feeling of passing on the baton from the generations who fought for freedom to the present and future generations who will have to continue to fight.
Portugal's Freedom Day, known as "Dia da Liberdade", commemorates a significant event in the country's history. It is celebrated on April 25th each year and it marks the anniversary of the 1974 Carnation Revolution, which brought an end to nearly five decades of authoritarian rule under the Estado Novo regime. The revolution was a peaceful military coup, with soldiers and civilians taking to the streets of Lisbon to overthrow the dictatorship. The event is symbolized by the placing of red carnations in the barrels of soldiers' rifles, hence the name "Carnation Revolution." Portugal's Freedom Day is a moment to reflect on the country's struggle for democracy and the values of liberty, equality, and human rights. It is a time for national pride and gratitude for the newfound freedom that has shaped modern Portugal.
