“LIBERDADE”
"Liberdade", the third single from my Hold EP, is a heartfelt tribute to the enduring concept of freedom. It serves as a reminder that freedom is not a destination but a lifelong journey, one that requires relentless determination and unwavering defense.
True freedom encompasses various dimensions, each equally important. There is political freedom, the ability to express ourselves and participate in shaping the society we live in. There is emotional freedom, the liberation from internal constraints and the courage to embrace our authentic selves. And there is spiritual freedom, the profound sense of inner peace and connection that transcends worldly limitations.
But freedom, at its core, must begin from within. It is the emancipation of our minds and the breaking of self-imposed chains that hold us back from reaching our full potential. It is the realization that we have the power to shape our own destinies and manifest the lives we desire.
Liberdade, the Portuguese word for “freedom,” holds a deep significance for me as it reflects my heritage and cultural roots. It was vital for me to represent my identity through my music.
I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the talented artists Confeere and One House Only, on the OST for an awe-inspiring art piece showcased right in the heart of Lisbon’s city center. This powerful installation marked the celebration of our national day of freedom from dictatorship. Picture a towering six-meter-tall statue, symbolizing a person sprinting towards freedom, clutching a vibrant bouquet of carnations symbolizing the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. It serves as a powerful reminder that the pursuit of freedom and equality is an ongoing struggle, a continuous fight that demands our vigilance and commitment.
"Liberdade" invites you to reflect on the complexities of the human experience and the importance of championing freedom in all its forms. It calls us to examine our own internal barriers, to break free from limitations imposed by society, and to actively contribute to a world where every individual can thrive.
